Have you seen this place lately? Yes, it’s been 50 years since we have tread on Senior Soil as actual SENIORS! Now is your opportunity to return to that Senior Soil with our Tour Guide, our very own Syble Brown ’64, who has volunteered for many years at NSHS. She has offered to give us a “customized tour” based on what we knew “back then.”

Tours will be available Friday, October 3, 2014 from 3:15-5:15pm. We will meet on Senior Soil and go from there!

Then you can just take your time to get to the Meet and Greet at the Historic Steinbeck House and enjoy good food, good company, no host bar and browse this historic home of John Steinbeck and the “Cellar Gift Store” which is open especially for us at this time.

($15.00 per person – You must be Preregistered and Paid in Advance
 6:00 – 9:00 PM)
Limited to the first 80 people who sign up…

The Queen Anne style Victorian home is the birthplace and boyhood home of Author John Steinbeck, built in 1897.  We drove by it  numerous times without a second glance growing up in Salinas.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Since 1972 it has been owned and maintained by  a volunteer staff which includes  some of our NSHS classmates.

You’ll be able to  browse  The Best Cellar Gift Shop, located in the original basement of the house. This is where young John Steinbeck would relate ghost stories to the neighborhood kids.

There are so many unique gifts  as well as vintage and new Steinbeck books.  Some of the original Steinbeck family furniture is on display.

Meet and Greet 6-9 Friday Evening

You are greeted by the FOX marquee and enter into a first class banquet facility. You’ll see the incredible restoration which has kept the original style and feeling of the old theatre.

After dinner step back in time listening to or dancing to the sounds of Rockin’ Ralph our DJ/MC for the night. Rockin’ Ralph’s favorite 60’s music is what we are about tonight.

You have just had a trip down memory lane Friday at the North Salinas High School campus and a more intimate visit with classmates at the Steinbeck House Friday night, then the fantastic fun-filled Saturday night at the reunion at the Fox Theatre.

Complete your Reunion Weekend at the Sunday brunch. This will be an opportunity for you to kick back and reflect on your step back in time during this Reunion Weekend, a final visit with your high school friends, before heading back to your current lives.

The Landing Zone Restaurant is a great place to eat! It is aviation themed with pictures, models and autographs from many of the world’s most famous performers and demonstration teams including the US Navy Blue Angels, US Air Force Thunderbirds and more!

The Landing Zone Restaurant is located in the Salinas Airport Terminal Building, 40 Mortensen Avenue, Salinas (831 758-9663). There is plenty of free parking. Every seat has a great view of airplanes and helicopters working around the airport. The food is excellent and the owners are very friendly.
